After finishing their most successful season in 20 years, the Jacksonville Jaguars could be at risk of losing both of their coordinator. Granted, neither Grant Udinski nor Anthony Campanile has gotten any interview requests yet, but it may be a matter of time before they do.

The silver lining is that if the Jags lose either Udinski or Campanile, they'll have options to replace them. In fact, the perfect candidate to fill a potential offensive coordinator vacancy just became available.

The Jaguars, like most teams, most keep an eye on Mike McDaniel

As NFL analyst Gregg Rosenthal noted on Twitter, this was supposed to be a somewhat unremarkable hiring cycle, but eight teams have head-coaching openings, and as many as three more (the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Green Bay Packers, and the Buffalo Bills) could have vacancies once/if they're eliminated from the playoffs. That's led to a blur of activity across the league.

Of course, some coordinators and coaches will garner more interest than others. Mike McDaniel will be among those with the biggest market after the Miami Dolphins cut ties with him.

Jeff Darlington of ESPN reported that Dolphins owner Stephen Ross likes McDaniel a lot but felt like the results weren't there in spite of the end-of-year production.

The Phins originally hired McDaniel in 2022 after a successful season as the offensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers the year prior. During his stint in Miami, he had a 35-33 record and made the playoffs twice.

What stands out about McDaniel's four-year tenure with the Dolphins was that he didn't have an answer at quarterback but still managed to put together solid numbers on offense. This makes you wonder just how successful he could be if he had more talent at his disposal.

The Jaguars would only target Mike McDaniel if Grant Udinski leaves

The truth is that John Harbaugh notwistanding, Mike McDaniel could be the most coveted candidate in this hiring cycle. Whether he gets a job as a head coach or offensive coordinator, he'll have no shortage of suitors, meaning that the Jags will face stiff competition in case they want to make a run for him

Heck, nobody would bat an eye if every non-Dolphins team with a head-coaching opening makes a strong push for McDaniel. Similarly, clubs that are looking to make a change at offensive coordinator will most definitely set their sights on him.

Of course, it's important to point out that the Jags doesn't have an offensive-coordinator opening as of this writing. Teams have seemingly agreed to begin requesting interviews with coaches on playoff teams until after the Wild Card Round ends. Whether Jacksonville advances or not, Grant Udinski could garner interest. Even then, it's not a given that he'll leave, but the Jags need to have a list of replacements ready in case he does.

Ideally, Liam Coen would love to keep his staff together, but the downside of having success in the NFL is that other teams will poach your coaches in order to recreate his success. And if Grant Udinski leaves, the Jaguars must waste no time reaching out to Mike McDaniel.
