The Jacksonville Jaguars hit it out of the ballpark when they drafted Brian Thomas Jr. last year, as he quickly established himself as one of the top receivers in the NFL. But as dominant as he was, he's expected to be even better in 2025. However, the team's brass knew that they needed to give Trevor Lawrence other weapons, so they locked up Dyami Brown in free agency.
While the signing raised eyebrows at the time, Brown made a strong impression throughout the offseason and is set to build off his strong finish to 2024. In fact, nobody will blink if he once again has a career season.
A third-round pick by the Washington Commanders, Brown was unremarkable throughout his first three seasons, tallying 29 receptions for 476 yards with three touchdowns. But something clicked in the second half of 2024, and he ended up reeling in 30 catches for 308 yards with one touchdown. Moreover, the South Carolina product played a pivotal role in Washington's playoff run, registering 14 receptions for 229 yards with one touchdown.
His strong performance helped him earn a one-year deal worth $10 million with the Jags. When discussing the signing, general manager James Gladstone explained that Jacksonville liked Brown's career path and believed that he could build off of his encouraging 2024.
Based on how Brown has performed so far, the team's optimisim isn't misguided.

Why Dyami Brown can have another career year with the Jaguars in 2025
All things considered, Dyami Brown has a relatively low bar to clear to post another career season, as amassing 400 yards would get the job done. However, the Jacksonville Jaguars surely expect more from him. Couple that with the prospect of getting a shot at another payday in 2026, and it's easy to see the fifth-year veteran logging somewhere between 700 and 800 yards.
Although Travis Hunter should eventually be the No. 2 opposite Thomas, expecting Brown to start come Week 1 will be reasonable if his strong offseason carries over into training camp and training camp. It's also worth noting that Trevor Lawrence keeps progressing from his shoulder injury and should be 100 percent for the opener against the Carolina Panthers.
With Lawrence behind center, Evan Engram, Zay Jones, Laquon Treadwell, and Christian Kirk all posted career numbers. Catching passes from No. 16 should also benefit Brown.
While the decision to sign Dyami Brown was a bit polarizing, it looks much better in retrospect. It won't be shocking if he posts career numbers in 2025 and becomes one of the hottest free agents next year.
