Jaguars could get an unexpected wish from dreaded AFC South rival

• That would be huge.

The NFL will soon drop the 2026 schedule, so the Jacksonville Jaguars will know when they'll face each of their opponents next season. They'll play two games in London, and according to a leak, they'll tentatively play the Houston Texans in Week 6. Their other game will be at Tottenham, and there's a chance they'll play another division foe.

Bryan DeArdo of CBS Sports drew up a list of schedule wishes for every NFL team. He points out that the Jags will face either the Tennessee Titans or the Cleveland Browns and suggests the former team offers a more favorable matchup.

"Jacksonville will play in consecutive games in London during Weeks 5 and 6," DeArdo wrote. "The Jaguars face divisional rival Houston in Week 6. The Jaguars will likely face either the Browns or Titans in Week 5. The Titans, however, are a better option as they are coming off a dreadful 3-14 season. They also don't have Myles Garrett, the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year."

The NFL will release the full slate of international games on May 13 at 9:00 a.m. ET, one day before it drops the 2026.

Why the Jaguars would want to play the Titans at Tottenham

The Titans are a rebuilding team under Robert Saleh. Last year, they ousted Brian Callahan after he failed to steer the ship in the right direction. Working in Saleh's favor is that general manager Mike Borgonzi has fortified the Tennessee roster with lots of talent.

Free-agent acquisition John Franklin-Myers joins a formidable defensive line that includes Jeffery Simmons. Moreover, the Titans retained Calvin Ridley, siged signed Wan'Dale Robinson, and drafted Carnell Tate to ensure that sophomore Cam Ward has a wide array of weapons. Simply put, Tennessee should make strides under Saleh.

On the other hand, the Titans are at least one or two years away from being a contender. Granted, this isn't Saleh's first rodeo — he was the head coach for the New York Jets — but they'll go through the ebbs and flows that come with a rebuild before they can truly be a threat in the AFC South.

This doesn't mean that the Jaguars shouldn't take the Titans lightly. After all, no division matchup is ever easy. Having said that, facing Tennessee might be better than dealing with the Browns.

Why the Jaguars may want to face the Browns at Tottenham

While the Jaguars may rather face Tennessee, playing the Browns wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. Sure, they have a formidable defense, led by Myles Garrett, and loaded up on talent in the NFL Draft. Having said that, Cleveland has a rookie head coach in Todd Monken.

Make no mistake, Monken is a great offensive mind, but he doesn't truly have a quarterback to work with. Unless Shedeur Sanders makes a substantial leap or Deshaun Watson enjoys a career revival, the Browns won't be able to keep up in the AFC race.

That said, the Jags won't care who they'll face at Tottenham, as they'll need to play him at some point in 2026, anyway. Moreover, they have the firepower to light up the scoreboard and the talent on defense to prevent opposing teams from reaching the end zone.

Would the Jags prefer to play the Titans and hand them a loss at Tottenham, you bet, but they'll be ready regardless of who's their Week 5 opponent.
