The Jacksonville Jaguars must sort out their running back room in training camp. Rookie Bhayshul Tuten ensured on the first day that he'll get ample consideration for the top spot on the depth chart.
Garry Smith of the Florida Times-Union reports that Tuten broke off a handful of big runs, adding that the rookie routinely showcased his top-notch speed to start training camp.
Mia O'Brien of ESPN was also effusive of Tuten, arguing that the former Virginia Tech Hokie stood out among all three running backs.
A fourth-round pick in this year's draft, Tuten joined a backfield that includes Travis Etienne and Tank Bigsby. Following the draft, a report surfaced that the team's brass wasn't sold on either Etienne or Bigsby, so the rookie running back should get a legitimate chance to earn the RB1 job ahead of the regular season.
For that to happen, though, Tuten will need to show he can take care of the football. He lost nine fumbles in the last two collegiate seasons. His issues with holding onto the football continued at Organized Team Activities, as he fumbled on the very first rep he got.
The good news is that the Paulsboro, New Jersey native has done a good job of securing his football since then and should continue to see his stock rise if he can build off of his promising start to training camp.

Bhaysul Tuten will continue to earn consideration for the Jaguars RB1 job
Fumble issues notwithstanding, it's easy to see why the Jacksonville Jaguars selected Bhayshul Tuten in Round 4 of the draft. His 4.32 time in the 40-yard dash was the fastest among running backs in the NFL Scouting Combine. Similarly, he registered a position best at both the vertical jump and the 10-yard split. Having said that, Travis Etienne and Tank Bigsby won't go down without a fight.
Even though Etienne was the subject of trade chatter during the offseason, it looks like the Jags will be holding onto him in 2025. Similarly, Bigsby showed significant improvement in his sophomore campaign after being a non-factor in 2023. His big-play capability will make it hard for the coaching staff to overlook him when discussing the pecking order.
Having said that, Tuten should feel good about his chances of seizing the No. 1running back job for the Jaguars in 2025. He's facing steep competition but has the talent to come out on top.
