The Jacksonville Jaguars may wait until next year to dismiss head coach Doug Pederson. But regardless of when they decide to pull the trigger, Bill Belichick has been brought up as his potential replacement. Just recently, Dan Graziano of ESPN explained why he thinks the Jags would ultimately be the best spot for The Hoodie to make a return to the NFL.

Graziano touched on the potential landing spots for Bill Belichick to coach in 2025. He believes Jacksonville makes the most sense, arguing that the Super Bowl-winning head coach wouldn't have to worry about finding a franchise quarterback due to the presence of Trevor Lawrence. On top of that, owner Shad Khan could provide anything he requested to be successful.

"The place that makes the most sense for Belichick, to me, is Jacksonville, if/when it moves on from Doug Pederson. It has a quarterback (though I admittedly don't know what Belichick thinks of Trevor Lawrence) and an owner with a track record of turning over the keys and telling his hires, "Do what you need to do to fix this." Shad Khan did this with Tom Coughlin. He did it with Urban Meyer. It doesn't always work, but it's a place where Belichick likely would have the level of control over the roster and offseason that he had in New England."

All things considered, Graziano makes a compelling case. After all, it wasn't until Tom Brady left in 2020 that Belichick started to struggle. With the star quarterback in the fold, the New England Patriots appeared in eight Super Bowls, winning six of them. Lawrence isn't nearly as accomplished but would give him similar long-term stability behind center.

Then again, Brady isn't the sole reason the Pats became a dynasty. Belichick had players buy into the organization's "Do Your Job" mantra and routinely put together some of the best defenses in the league.

It's just that Brady's departure exposed Belichick's inability to consistently replenish the New England roster. And that's the thing, one of the reasons he didn't get much consideration for head coaching jobs in this past hiring cycle is that he was in charge of his team's personnel decisions and possibly wanted general manager powers in his next stop.

Given his lackluster record of identifying talent in the draft, clubs would be rightly hesitant to give Belichick general manager powers. Then again, he could be an appealing candidate if he were willing to work in collaboration instead of running the show alone.

In Jacksonville, Trent Baalke is the general manager. Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk brought up the possibility of the two working together, but it would be better if the Jags cleaned house and brought in someone else to run their front office.

Regarding Shad Khan's willingness to spend on the team, Graziano is also right. When Urban Meyer requested a state-of-the-art facility for players, Khan relinquished. More recently, he agreed to a massive deal in conjunction with the City of Jacksonville to renovate EverBank Stadium.

Add the fact that the Jags are set to have around $62 million in space, and the Jaguars would be an appealing landing spot for Belichick to return to the NFL.

The Jaguars will be an appealing destination for Bill Belichick and other HC candidates

There's no denying that Bill Belichick Belichick would have everything he needed if the Jacksonville Jaguars hired him. Then again, that would be true for most candidates. In fact, Graziano just laid out the reason why they may be the most appealing destination for head-coaching candidates in the next hiring cycle.

This is to say that the Jacksonville Jaguars must conduct a proper head-coaching search, and if Bill Belichick proves to be the best-qualified candidate, so be it. That said, the organization should leave no stone unturned and must look for the most appealing option. After all, they have the resources to ensure that their next head coach will succeed.
