The Jacksonville Jaguars find themselves in a precarious spot ahead of their Week 11 matchup against the Detroit Lions. They're 2-8, and Trevor Lawrence has already been ruled out for the game. Mac Jones is the next man up behind center but he's coming off a dreadful performance.

Jones went 14-of-22 for 115 yards with two interceptions against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 10. He took responsibility for his poor play but told the local Wednesday that it won't deter him from putting in the work to get better.

"I think the defense played great, and the offense, we got to do better. It starts with me," Jones said. "And those guys fought tough, and I really appreciate the team for having my back. Just got to learn from it, no excuses. I definitely wanted a different result, but I'm going to keep fighting."

For his part, head coach Doug Pederson expects Jones to rebound against the Lions, pointing out that he's a veteran who knows how to deal with the ebbs and flows of the NFL.

"It's in the regular season, so it's hard to... you hate to say the word rust and all that stuff," Pederson responded when asked if Jones could have been rusty after not playing most of the season. "But look, he's been in big games before. He knows how to handle them. I would expect that he's gonna rebound this week, learn from it as we all are, and move forward."

Jaguars vs. Lions game details for Week 11:

Kickoff time: 1:00 p.m. ET
Location: Ford Field, Detroit
All-time record: The Lions lead the series 5-3. The last time these two teams met, the Jaguars lost 40-14 in 2022.

The last bout between these two clubs was notable for a couple of reasons. For starters, Jacksonville not only lost. It got pummeled, but it was also its only loss after starting 3-6 in 2022 That's right, the Jags went on to win six of their last seven games to win the AFC South and qualify for the postseason.

This time around, the Jaguars enter Week 11 under similar circumstances. They're 2-7, but their probability of making the playoffs is extremely low. They're currently a 13-point underdog, and a loss to Detroit could put an end to their season.
