The Jacksonville Jaguars showed promise in their Week 5 win over the Indianapolis Colts. However, they took a massive step back one game later when they lost to the Chicago Bears. Now, their season hangs by a thread, which makes their Week 7 matchup against the New England Patriots a must-win. Fortunately for the Jags, they'll have a favorable matchup.

Even though it's lost five of its last six games, Jacksonville is entering the game as a 5.5-point favorite. Then again, this isn't that shocking when you take into account that the Jaguars are facing a New England team that isn't doing much better.

After winning in the opener, the Pats have gone on to lose five straight games. Things have gotten so back, that they scrapped their plan to let Drake Maye redshirt in 2024 following the Week 5 loss to the Miami Dolphins

There's no doubt that Maye showed promise in his first NFL start, throwing three touchdowns and three interceptions. However, he's still a rookie, and as such, he'll experience growing pains. This could precisely be the kind of matchup the Jaguars' defense needs to gel after a disappointing start to 2024.

Heading into Week 7, Jacksonville ranks 31st in both points surrendered and total yards. This is frustrating when you take into account that the front office spared no expense to retain key contributors and sign several notable players in free agency.

Precisely because the Jaguars have a favorable matchup, they cannot afford to lose to the Patriots. Otherwise, it could be Doug Pederson's last game as their head coach. With that in mind, here's how you can watch the Week 7 bout.

Jaguars vs. Patriots game details for Week 7:

Kickoff time: 9:30 a.m. ET
Location: Wembley Stadium
All-time record: The Patriots lead the series 12-2, including playoff performances.

The Jaguars have faced the Patriots several times throughout team history. The most notable of their encounters was arguably the 2017 AFC Championship. Jacksonville was leading late in the game, and it looked like they had sealed the deal when Myles Jack recovered a fumble and was on his way to the New England end zone. However, he was ruled down, and the Pats went on to win the game.

Since then, Jacksonville and the Patriots have met once, back in 2021. Trevor Lawrence was a rookie and Urban Meyer was the head coach. New England wasted no time taking advantage of the matchup and won 50-10.

The Jaguars surely hope Week 7 won't be as lopsided as their last meeting was.
