When you think of prominent players who suited up for the Jacksonville Jaguars, the quartet of Tony Boselli, wide receiver Jimmy Smith, quarterback Mark Brunnell, and running back Fred Taylor (in no particular order) comes to mind. Maurice Jones-Drew certainly is up there. The same is true for Calais Campbell, and more recently, Trevor Lawrence. However, none of them will have the honor of announcing one of the team's picks in the 2026 NFL Draft.

The league just dropped the list of former players who will announce a pick for every NFL team, and a forgotten legend got the nod.

Paul Posluszny will announce the first Jaguars draft pick

Paul Posluzny will be announcing the Jaguars' pick in the second or third round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Last year, when they traded up to select two-way star Travis Hunter, 2024 Walter Payton Man of the Year winner Arik Armstead got the honor. Here's the Jags announcing the news.

Now, you could argue that calling Posluzny a legend is a stretch, but he was one of the team's most notable players in the early 2010s. This is noteworthy because the Jags were dreadful at that time, winning a combined 19 games from 2011 to 2015. That's an average of less than four games per season in that span.

Heck, the year Posluzny made the Pro Bowl, Jacksonville only racked up a measly three wins. Moreover, which player can you name aside from him that truly stood out? Maurice Jones-Drew's best years were behind him, so that leaves probably center Brad Meester and tight end Marcedes Lewis as the two most prominent.

A second-round pick by the Buffalo Bills in the 2007 draft, Posluszny signed with the Jaguars in 2011. During his 11-year career, he appeared in 145 games with 140 starts, registering 1,214 tackles, 16 sacks, and three forced fumbles.

When the Jags drafted Myles Jack in 2016, it marked the end of Posluszny's stint in Duval. He hung up his cleats after the 2017 season.

What to expect from the Jaguars in the draft

As noted before, the Jaguars won't pick until the second round after including their 2026 first-round selection in the Travis Hunter trade last year. That said, they have 11 selections, including three in the third round.

The Jags' biggest roster voids right now are the interior defensive line and the pass rush. However, they also need to add reinforcements at tight end, cornerback, the offensive line, and wide receiver.

Based on general manager James Gladstone's propensity to take a big swing, don't shocked to see him make a big move. This is a roundabout way to say that you should expect the unexpected come draft day.
