Once again, the Jacksonville Jaguars proved that they're not afraid of moving on from underachieving players when they traded center Luke Fortner to the New Orleans Saints just after their Week 2 preseason game. A handful of recent draft picks could be next.
With general manager James Gladstone at the helm, the Jags made plenty of roster moves in the offseason. Not all the players the front office brought in the past few months will stick around this upcoming season. That means that several underwhelming draft picks the past regime brougth in, along with a handful of veterans, could be on their way out come roster cutdown day.
With that in mind, here are three recent Jaguars draft pick that will walk the plan after the preseason.
Javon Foster, Jaguars fourth-round pick in 2024
Rookies often get a pass because they're getting acclimated to the NFL and may need a bit of time to hit their stride. But that's not Javon Foster's case. A fourth-round pick in last year's draft, the offensive tackle was mostly a healthy scratch in 2024 and hasn't shown notable improvement under new head coach Liam Coen.
Given that Jacskonville has plenty of options at offensive tackle — Walker Little, Anton Harrison, Fred Johnson, Chuma Edoga, Cole Van Lanen — it's hard to see Foster making the team. At best, he could be practice-squad fodder, but not much else.
Yasir Abdullah, Jaguars fifth-round pick in 2023
A successful pass rusher at Louisiana, Yasir Abdullah lacked the size and length to consistently bring the heat at the NFL, so he eventually switched to off-linebacker with the Jags. Although the former Cardinal was pressed into action once the injury bug struck, he was also inactive for several games each of the past two years.
With Dennis Gardeck, Jalen McLeod, and Jack Kiser joining the Jacksonville linebacker corps, Abdullah could be a victim of the numbers game.

Myles Cole, Jaguars seventh-round pick in 2024
One thing that defined Trent Baalke during his stint with the Jaguars was his fascination with size and length. That's part of the reason why he chose Travon Walker over Aidan Hutchinson in 2022, and it showed again when Jacksonville used a seventh-round pick on Myles Cole in 2024.
Make no mistake, Cole had amazing arm length but was a raw prospect coming out of Texas Tech. A developmental prospect, he hardly ever got playing time as a rookie. And like other players on this list, he hasn't shown enough progress under Liam Coen to make you think he'll earn a roster spot in 2025.
Jalen McLeond, Jaguars sixth-round pick in 2025
All things considered, the Jaguars came out of the 2025 draft with a promising haul. And most of their picks should make the team. The one exception could be Jalen McLeod. You may bring up the fact that I mentioned that Yasir Abdullah may not earn a roster spot, because of him, but the truth is that McLeod also has a few things going against him.
For starters, the former Auburn Tiger hasn't played in any of the two preseason bouts. The Jaguars cannot know what they have in him if he doesn't take the field. On top of that, he's kind of a tweener.
McLeod is listed as a defensive end but often rushed the passer from a standup position in college. It's hard to tell what kind of role he could get with the Jaguars, but they're stacked at both the edge and linebacker. He may ultimately make the cut, but there's also a chance he won't.
DeAntre Prince, Jaguars fifth-round pick in 2024
The Jaguars have been dealing with injuries at cornerback. Both Zech McPhearson and Levi Wallace are on Injured Reserve, and Montaric Brown missed the preseason with a leg injury. But despite the void at the position, sophomore DeAntre Prince hasn't been able to boost his stock.
A fifth-round pick in last year's draft, the former Ole Miss Rebel hasn't been able to stand out. In fact, he's posted a 39.6 Pro Football Focus overall grade in the preseason, giving up five receptions on seven targets for 74 yards. Meanwhile, fellow cornerback Christian Braswell has taken advantage of Brown's absence to make an impression.
Couple that with the fact that Braswell has also contributed on special teams, and he should make the cut over Prince.
