The Jacksonville Jaguars left much to be desired in their 34-17 loss to the Carolina Panthers. The defense had trouble stopping Bryce Young and the first-team offense, while the offense wasn't able to score a touchdown until the fourth quarter when the game was already out of reach. But as underwhelming as the Jags looked, that was due in part to Liam Coen's decision to sit out their starters. The added context automatically puts things in perspective.

Jacksonville is dealing with injuries, so Coen didn't want to expose the starters to unnecessary injury risk. Several players got extensive work as part of the decision. Some were able to take advantage of the opportunity. A few others failed.

With this in mind, here are five Jaguars whose stock is plummeting after Week 2 of the preseason.

4 Jaguars whose stock is plummeting after Week 2 of the preseason

Carter Bradley, quarterback

The backup quarterbacks were a mixed bag in the season opener, but Carter Bradley at least was able to flash at times. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to work his magic against the Panthers. The South Alabama product went 6-of-13 for 51 yards.

On the other hand, Bradley won't probably make the 53-man roster. Even a strong outing in Week 2 of the preseason wouldn't have helped him, but he failed to make the most of his limited chances to potentially become QB2 if he's given the chance in 2027.

DeeJay Dallas, running back

When DeeJay Dallas re-signed with the Jaguars in 2026, he looked like a good bet to make the team next season. However, his odds plummeted when Jacksonville signed undrafted free agent and later veteran Ameer Abdullah.

To make matters worse, Dallas hasn't helped himself in the preseason. In the opener, he had 10 carries for 26 yards. Things didn't change much against the Panthers, with the veteran toting the rock eight times for 27 yards. Compounding the issue is that he had a fumble late in the game. Meanwhile, Abdullah was the highlight of the game.

At this point, it's hard to picture Dallas having a chance to make the team in 2026.

Christian Braswell, cornerback

Nearly all Jaguars cornerbacks struggled against Carolina. Jabbar Muhammad wasn't able to make plays and was also targeted often. However, Christian Braswell was arguably a bit worse, giving up four receptions on six targets for 42 yards.

The silver lining is that Braswell wasn't burned as badly as Corey Ballentine. Nevertheless, he needs to bounce back in the finale if he wants to beat Muhammad for the CB5 job. All in all, it wasn't a good day for the Jacksonville cornerback group.

Jerome Carvin, offensive lineman

For the second week in a row, Jerome Carvin struggled. He got the start at right guard and ended up giving two total pressures and drawing two penalty flags on 55 offensive snaps.

Carvin was at best a practice squad candidate, but it's hard to see him sticking around in Duval next season.
