Jaguars News: Jawaan Taylor has a new NFL home already
The Jacksonville Jaguars were a great team in 2022. That is because they had a lot of good players. Some of those good players are going to stay for a long time and try to help this team win a Super Bowl. Unfortunately, there are some that will leave for other opportunities as well.
That happened on Monday as it came out that Jawaan Taylor is leaving the Jaguars to go play for the Kansas City Chiefs. This is a tough loss for the Jaguars as their offensive line is going to need a replacement for him now.
He was a great player but for 80 million over four years (60 million guaranteed), that is a risk. The Chiefs let Orlando Brown Jr. go who would have gotten similar money to be better at the same position. It is a bit strange but Taylor will make less money in the latter half of the deal.
The former second-round pick is, however, going into a great situation that might even help him elevate his game even more. After beating the Jaguars in the playoffs, the Chiefs went on to win the Super Bowl. The expectations will be the same again in 2023 for them.
The Jacksonville Jaguars won’t have Jawaan Taylor on their team anymore.
He has some big shoes to fill though. Orlando Brown was an incredible tackle before coming to the Chiefs and then he had another marvelous year capped off by a clean Super Bowl against one of the best rushing defenses ever.
As for the Jaguars, there are a lot of needs to help this team take another step. Adding as many good offensive linemen, especially tackles, is always something that should be on the mind of the general manager so we’ll see how Trent Baalke fixes this one.
With Trevor Lawrence entering his prime, you always are going to want to protect him. So far, they have done a decent job of that. We’ll see how the rest of free agency and the draft goes for them. Losing Jawaan Taylor isn’t necessarily ideal but it isn’t the end of their run by any means.
