5 2023 Senior Bowl standouts who should be on Jacksonville Jaguars radar
No. 2 Senior Bowl standout for Jacksonville Jaguars: Payne Durham
Even if the Jags manage to bring back Evan Engram, they may still need to reload their tight end group, given that Dan Arnold and Chris Manhertz are also slated to become free agents. One prospect to keep tabs on in later rounds of the draft is Purdue’s Payne Durham.
Despite the fact that Durham only had two catches for 24 yards in the game, he had a fruitful week of practice. Before the Senior Bowl, you probably didn’t see Durham’s name brought up often when discussing potential options at tight end but he made sure he’s now in the conversation, especially if Jacksonville is looking for a weapon in the red zone.
No. 1 Senior Bowl standout for Jacksonville Jaguars: Tyjae Spears
Running back is another position the Jaguars don’t have to address early in the draft due to the presence of Travis Etienne. However, they should consider adding a prospect to their backfield, and nobody stood out more than Tulane’s Tyjae Spears in the Senior Bowl.
Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Media praised Spears and called him the best back in Mobile, “whether it was toting the rock or catching it“. He could compete with JaMycal Hasty or sophomore Snoop Conner for the No. 2 running back spot on the Jaguars’ depth chart. Having said that, Spears has starting potential, so there’s a chance he might be gone by the time the Jaguars are on the clock in the third round.
