Jaguars News: Trevor Lawrence needs more Saturday magic
The Jacksonville Jaguars are getting ready for their next playoff game. They won their Super Wild Card Weekend matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers thanks to a comeback win. They erased a 27-point deficit in order to reach this point in what was truly a miracle game for them.
Now, they get the tough draw of facing the AFC team that was the number one seed and had a first-round bye. That would be the Kansas City Chiefs who have been one of the NFL’s model franchises for a few years now. It is one of the better tests a team can face in the NFL.
Kansas City came into this season looking a little bit different because they no longer had Tyreek Hill but they found a way to have the highest-scoring offense once again. They just did it in an entirely different way.
A lot of that has to do with their amazing quarterback, Patrick Mahomes. He is clearly the best quarterback in the NFL and it might be a long time before anyone dethrones him from that title. His weapons are amazing as well and they are led by tight end Travis Kelce.
The Jacksonville Jaguars will play the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL’s 2nd round.
The Chiefs and Jaguars got matched up because of the results of the rest of the AFC playoff games that took place over this weekend. Each game was incredibly exciting but the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals came out and they will meet in the second round.
The winner of these two games will fight in the AFC Championship game with a berth in the Super Bowl on the line. There is no doubt that all four teams have an incredibly hard road ahead of them if they were to make it all the way to the end.
You can argue that these four teams each have one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. It is cool to see Trevor Lawrence mentioned with Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Joe Burrow at this point in time. It is earned.
Speaking of Lawrence, the Jaguars need him to recapture some of his Saturday magic. For those who don’t know, Lawrence has never lost a football game on a Saturday in high school college, or the NFL. That streak was kept alive with this big playoff win over the Chargers.
It would be nice to see him keep that going as their game against the Chiefs is going to take place on Saturday of next week at 4:30 PM ET.
It is funny that they won’t be playing their playoff game on a Sunday for the second week in a row and third overall (they played week 18 on a Saturday too).
The Jaguars are one of the league’s must-see teams now and most people don’t even know it yet. With a big matchup against the Chiefs, it might be the time people started to take note. This is going to be so much fun.
