The Jacksonville Jaguars beat the Tennesse Titans in Week 18 and safety Rayshawn Jenkin’s strip sack of quarterback Joshua Dobbs played a huge role in the win. Jenkins recently had a sitdown with Kay Adams of FanDuel and called the play a miracle.

Adams brings up an exchange of safety Daniel Thomas telling Jenkins near the end of the fourth quarter that a miracle is going to happen, “Something special about to happen, a miracle is gonna happen. I’m telling you”. Not long after the exchange and trailing 16-13, Jenkins forced the fumble that outside linebacker Josh Allen returned for a touchdown. Jenkins calls it a miracle but also praises the play call:

“A miracle, it was the perfect play call, honestly”, Jenkins said. “We needed to play in that situation. I knew I had to set on the blitz, but given the situation, I knew it had to be more within the set at that moment. So I got back to him, I saw him about to throw the ball and I was like, ‘I got to dive my feet right now and hit his arm’. I did it the ball came out, John Allen was able to scoop and score to take the momentum of the game”.

Jenkins was a playmaker for the Jaguars in 2022. He started all 17 games and finished the season with 116 total tackles, one sack, 12 passes defensed, three forced fumbles, and three interceptions. Moreover, his walk-off pick six against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 15 put Jacksonville on top. Here’s Jenkins’ exchange with Adams.

Rayshawn Jenkins had a great 2022 for the Jaguars

A fourth-round pick by the Los Angeles Chargers in 2017, Jenkins signed a four-year deal worth $35 million with the Jags in 2021. However, his first season with the Black and Teal was underwhelming. He didn’t make any of the game-changing plays and finished the year on Injured Reserve.

But Jenkins has bounced back in 2022 and has become a playmaker for the Jaguars. He recently told the media he always dreamt of making plays and that’s what he was brought to do to change the culture of the team.

While the Jags’ turnaround has mainly been possible due to Trevor Lawrence’s improvement and head coach Doug Pederson’s arrival. Players such as Jenkins have made an impact. Jacksonville is now set to play the Los Angeles Chargers in Wild Card Weekend and if they want to avoid being one-and-done, they’ll need Jenkins and other difference-makers on defense to come through.
