It’s New Year’s Day, and there’s no better way to enjoy the holidays than watching the Jacksonville Jaguars take on the Houston Texans. This isn’t the first time these division foes meet this season though. They faced off against each other in Week 5 and the Texans came on top but many things have changed since then.

The Jags are close to securing a playoff berth while Houston is poised to have a pick once again in the top 10. Although Jacksonville doesn’t have to beat the Texans to qualify for the postseason, don’t expect them to take it easy.

Instead, the Jags will be looking for their eighth victory of the 2022 season. With that in mind, here’s everything you need to know for the Week 17 game, including the odds, spread, injuries, and how to watch it.

Jaguars vs. Texans Injury Report for Week 17

The Jags listed several players as questionable for the game: Right guard Brandon Scherff (abdomen), outside linebacker Travon Walker (ankle), quarterback Trevor Lawrence (toe), defensive tackle Folorunso Fatukasi (ankle), safety Andrew Wingard (shoulder), and long snapper Ross Matiscik.

Pederson told the media Matiscik should be good to go and is optimistic both Walker and Fatukasi will suit up against the Texans. Also, Lawrence has been dealing with the toe injury he suffered a few weeks back but hasn’t missed a single contest, so he should play. Not long after writing this, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that both Lawrence and Walker are expected to play, so there’s that.

Maybe, and this is a conjecture, Scherff will be the only Jaguar that popped up on the injury report that won’t be available. Given that offensive lineman Coy Cronk was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, there’s a chance Scherff won’t play. If he doesn’t, Cole Van Lanen might get the start at right guard.

The Texans have already ruled out center Jimmy Morrisey (concussion) and tight end Taegan Quitoriano (tight). Right tackle Tytus Howard, rookie guard Kenyon Green and wide receiver Brandin Cooks were limited in practice but they’re all a full-go. Their only player listed as questionable is running back Dare Ogunbowale.

Jaguars vs. Texans Odds and Spread for Week 17

The Jaguars are a three-point favorite with a moneyline of -168, per WynnBET. Place a bet of $168 on them and win $100 if they beat Houston. The Texans’ moneyline is set at +140. Bet $100 on them and win $140 for a total payout of $240 if they beat the Jags. The over/under for the game sits at 43 points.
