New Year’s Eve is a great time to spend time with your family and friends. It’s also a great opportunity to watch the Georgia Bulldogs and the Ohio State Buckeyes will face off against each other in the Peach Bowl. But fans won’t be the only ones tunning in. Like any other NFL team, the Jacksonville Jaguars will take a look at prospects who will potentially be available in the 2023 NFL Draft.

After all, Georgia and Ohio State are football factories and both college programs send players to the pros year in a year out. With that in mind, here are five prospects the Jaguars should watch closely in the Peach Bowl.

No. 5 Prospect the Jaguars should watch in the Peach Bowl: Darnell Washington

Tight end Evan Engram will most likely be a priority free agent for the Jags next offseason. The former first-round pick is having a career year in Jacksonville and will probably command a top-market contract.

If the Jaguars can’t bring Engram back, they could look for a potential replacement in the draft. Notre Dame tight end Michael Mayer might be the most likely candidate but if he’s gone by the time Jacksonville picks Georgia’s Darnell Washington would be an enticing alternative.

Even though Washington hasn’t been nearly as productive as his Fighting Irish counterpart in 2022, he still managed to log a solid 26 receptions for 417 yards with two receiving touchdowns. Moreover, he’s an excellent in-line blocker and possesses the attributes to develop into a receiving threat in the pros.

If tight end does become a priority for the Jags next year and Washington is available when they’re on the clock, they should strongly consider turning in the card with his name on it.
