The Jacksonville Jaguars are trending in the right direction in the last stretch of the 2022 season. They’re currently on the verge of dethroning the Tennessee Titans as the AFC South Champions but before they can get crowned, they need to check off one of many boxes and beat the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football.

Just like the Jags, the Jets also made strides this season and won’t be an easy opponent to put down. Although they’ve lost four of their last fight games, they have a stout defense and enough weapons on offense to make it difficult for Jacksonville to leave Met Life Stadium with a win.

On the other hand, the Jaguars are getting hot at the right time and also have the ammo to tear through New York’s defense. With that in mind, here are five bold predictions for this Week 16 matchup.

Trevor Lawrence set a career high for years in a game with 368 against the Tennessee Titans in Week 14 and threw four touchdown passes in the overtime win over the Dallas Cowboys. Simply, there isn’t anything the former Clemson Tiger can’t do.

While Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen remain at the top of the quarterback echelon, Lawrence is drawing near and should be able to throw two touchdowns on Thursday Night Football. That might seem like a low estimate when you take into account that he’s had seven over the last two weeks but the elements — 90 percent chance of precipitation — might play a role in the game and could make it difficult to throw.

But regardless of the weather, Lawrence should be able to gain yards through the air and score a couple times.
