WR Zay Jones’ heroics helps Jaguars take lead vs. Cowboys
What a crazy turn of events. For a moment, it looked like the Jacksonville Jaguars were on their way to losing to the Dallas Cowboys after a slow start. However, a handful of big plays on both offense and defense have helped the Jaguars take a 31-27 lead.
The Jaguars had a hard time getting things going in the first half and they weren’t off to a good start in the second half, trailing 24-7. However, the defense limited Dallas to just six points, and Trevor Lawrence connected with wide receiver Zay Jones for his second touchdown pass of the game. The duo wasn’t done though and Jones got their third touchdown of the game in their following drive. The former East Carolina Pirate has been unstoppable. So far, he’s caught five passes for 90 yards with three touchdowns.
After Jones’ second touchdown, defensive end Arden Key came up with a huge sack on quarterback Dak Prescott, who threw an interception into safety Rayshawn Jenkins’ pass.
Jacksonville wasted no time and made the most of the extra possession. Lawrence led a four-play, 39-yard drive that ended on a 10-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. This was Jones’ third trip to the end zone of the season. Here’s Jones’ third touchdown of the game.
The Jaguars look like a different team vs. the Cowboys in the 2nd half
Lawrence deserves credit for keeping his cool. He threw also threw an interception in the third quarter but was able to bounce back. Similarly, props to the defense for getting him the ball back. They have been able to effectively apply pressure in the second half after failing to stop the Cowboys’ offense in the first half.
After scoring on just one possession in the first drive, the Jags have scored in all but one in the second half. It seemed farfetched at halftime but the Jaguars are now leading 31-27. They can’t now take their foot off the pedal and both the offense and the defense need to do their part if they want to win this one.
