5 Jaguars that must shine vs. the Lions to win in Week 13
No. 2 Jaguars player who must shine in Week 13: Josh Allen, OLB
This entry might feel a bit like cheating but both Josh Allen and rookie Travon Walker must execute against Detroit. The former has pressured opposing quarterbacks at a high rate this season but hasn’t come up with enough big plays. For the season, he’s got three sacks and two forced fumbles, which isn’t the kind of production you expect from the top pass rusher on your team.
Meanwhile, Walker has one of the lowest pass-rush win rates in the league and has struggled to make an impact. Although he’s not lacking effort and the Jaguars knew he would be adjusting to the NFL in his rorokie season, he needs to finish the season strong.
The Lions’ offensive line is among the best in the league and the Jaguars’ pass rush might have a hard time getting after Jared Goff, that’s why both Allen and Walker need to have an outstanding game.
No. 1 Jaguars player who must shine in Week 13: Trevor Lawrence, QB
You have probably spent the whole week listening to the ‘Trevor Lawrence has arrived narrative‘ and while some might be tired of consistently having to hear about the former Clemson Tiger, the truth is that it’s been a while since the Jaguars had a quarterback of his caliber, so it won’t go away any time soon.
The Jags can’t expect to solely depend on Lawrence to win football games but they will surely trust him to keep leading the way. Against a good Baltimore defense, the second-year quarterback completed 78.38 percent of his passes for 321 yards with three touchdowns.
Hopefully, Jacksonville’s next game doesn’t come to the last drive but if it does, Lawrence will need to come clutch once again.
