The Jacksonville Jaguars are a long shot to qualify for the postseason in 2022 but they’re still in the thick of the race following a win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 12 and the Tennesse Titans’ loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. In fact, the Jags’ odds of seizing the AFC South have gone up ahead of Week 13.

The Titans are still the favorites to win the AFC South but Jacksonville has become a dark horse with their odds of finishing at the top of the division sitting at +750 at FanDuel. Head coach Doug Pederson met with the media Wednesday and said he doesn’t rule out making a run and going 7-0.

“I’ve been around this league a long time, anything is possible”, Pederson said. “Detroit’s in a situation where they could go on a little run here and affect the outcome of their season too. Yes, we understand that it’s a one-game season, the importance of this game and we’ve got some really good opponents down the stretch here”.

“We still got three in our own division. I love the confidence the guys have and I don’t want to take that away from them either. If they believe that, we’ve got to get more people believing that, right? Coaches, players, everybody and we understand it’s a one-game season, one-game mentality and it’s possible”.

Following the Jags’ 27-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Pederson said the team could get hot and go 7-0 in the remainder of the season. While running the table seems unlikely, beating the Ravens was a tough task and they pulled it off, so they shouldn’t be counted out just yet.

The Jaguars have a tough rough to get to the playoffs in 2022

The Jags made ground in the AFC South but they still have a long way to go. There are six games left in the season and they can’t probably afford to lose more than one. But if they beat the Lions and the Titans lose to the Philadelphia Eagles, things could get interesting as these division foes are scheduled to face off in Week 14.

Do the Jaguars have a path to the playoffs? Yes, but it won’t be easy. First, they need to beat the Lions but if they keep playing the way they did against the Ravens and get on a hot streak as Pederson previously said, they might have a shot.
