The Jacksonville Jaguars were a trendy team following victories over the Indianapolis Colts and the Los Angeles Chargers. But they started losing and with that came a descent into the bottom of the league and most power rankings. The only thing that could get the Jags out of the cellar was a win and they got one in Week 12 when they defeated the Baltimore Ravens 28-27.

The Jags were 0-175 when trailing by seven points and they managed to end the streak when they beat the Ravens. Down 19-17, Jacksonville first made a field goal and later scored the game-winning touchdown and the two-point conversion thereafter.

Trevor Lawrence had his best game as a pro and showed he can successfully come back from behind and win the game. The sophomore quarterback completed 78.38 percent of his passes for 321 yards with three touchdowns but he wasn’t the only Jaguar that contributed to the upset. Christian Kirk, Zay Jones, and Marvin Jones Jr. came through in the last drive. Similarly, safety Andrew Wingard and defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton each came with a forced fumble that ended up playing a big role in the outcome of the game.

The Jaguars’ win over the Ravens seems to have re-energized the locker room and with six games to go, they’re not completely out of the playoff picture, so where do they stand in power rankings ahead of Week 13?

The Jaguars moved up several spots in every NFL power ranking

Dan Hanzus of NFL Media moved the Jags six spots and placed them at No. 23 in his power ranking and says that the win over Baltimore marked Lawrence’s arrival as a franchise quarterback.

Bleacher Report didn’t go as far as Hanzus but still believes Lawrence played his best game as a pro in Week 12, and just like Hanzus, they gave the 23rd spot in their power ranking to the Jags. The B/R staff doesn’t think this win will get Jacksonville to the postseason and won’t wipe out years of losing either but they made a step in the right direction.

"This victory isn’t going to get the Jaguars in the playoffs. Or erase all the frustrations of losses past. But in sliding past the Ravens on a two-point conversion, the Jaguars showed something they haven’t in a while. They showed that they can win. And that matters."

Then, there’s Pete Prisco of CBS Sports. Like Hanzus and B/R, Prisco notes that this was a big moment for Lawrence and believes that the Jaguars will be a playoff team in 2023.

All these takes might sound overly positive but they’re warranted. Trevor Lawrence had led a game-winning drive and did so against a pretty good team. The Jags also managed to hold into their playoff hopes and bucked a trend while doing so. If Jacksonville finds a way to keep winning, more praise will come their way.
