Jaguars looking to end Ravens winning streak: Odds and Prediction for Week 12
The Jacksonville Jaguars had the chance to rest and regroup during their Bye Week. Next on their schedule is a Baltimore Ravens team that is coming off a four-game winning streak.
The Ravens are currently first in the AFC North and are poised to have one of the top playoff seeds in the conference. Meanwhile, the Jags lost 27-17 to the Kansas City Chiefs and proved they still have a long way to go before they can go toe-to-toe with the best teams in the league.
Then again, Jacksonville has taken steps in the right direction and Trevor Lawrence is coming off two solid outings in back-to-back weeks. But will that be enough to beat Baltimore in Week 12? Here are the odds and a prediction for the game.
Jaguars vs. Ravens Odds for Week 12
Per FanDuel, the Jags are a 4.0-point underdog with a moneyline of +164. Bet $100 on them and win $164 if they beat Baltimore. The Ravens’ moneyline stands at -198. Place a wager of +198 on them and win $100 if they beat Jacksonville. The over/under for the game has been set at 43.5 points.
Jaguars vs. Ravens Score Prediction for Week 12
The Jags have no trouble moving the ball this season. Their offense is eight in total yards but once they get into enemy territory, their offense stall, which is why they rank only 19th in points scored. On the other hand, both the Ravens’ offense and defense rank in the top 10.
One of the keys to pulling off the upset is Trevor Lawrence. This season, the former Clemson Tiger has made mistakes at the worst possible time but he’s also shown consistency in the last two weeks. If he can make sound decisions with the football and avoid being overly aggressive, the Jaguars will have a shot.
Having said that, Lawrence isn’t the only Jaguar that needs to show out in Week 12. Their defense will have the daunting task of stopping MVP candidate Lamar Jackson. The 2018 first-round pick has completed 63.4 percent of his passes for 1,977 yards with 16 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
Moreover, Jackson’s ability to run will keep the Jags’ defense on their toes. He’s toted the rock 97 times for 666 yards with three touchdowns this season and he’s a threat to take off at any given time. Keeping him in check will ensure the game doesn’t get out of reach.
Last but not least, the coaching staff will need to feed Travis Etienne early and often. The Chiefs’ defense managed to slow him down in Week 10 but he tallied 100 yards or more from Weeks 7 to 9. It would be a good idea to get him involved early to keep Baltimore’s defense honest.
The Jags could pull off the upset if they follow these three keys but it’s hard to see them putting an end to the Ravens’ winning streak. That’s why I’m taking Baltimore on this one.
Final score: Ravens 27 – Jaguars 20
