4. James Robinson will regain his status as the Jaguars No. 1 back

Travis Etienne has seen an uptick in playing time, and that’s pretty understandable when you consider that he’s got an affinity for making big plays when he’s got the ball. However, the Jaguars can’t simply stash James Robinson on the bench. The former Illinois State Redbird is simply too talented to remain on the sidelines and the coaching staff must make him an important plan of the game plan against New York.

Sure, it’s kind of hard to give Robinson and Etienne a balanced workload but the Jags must find a way. After all, Robinson has shown he picked up where he left off last year when he suffered a torn Achilles. He’s already broken off a few big runs this season and should be able to do the same even against a stout Giants’ defense, which will lead to his second 100-yard game of the 2022 season.

3. The Jaguars’ defense will limit Saquon Barkley to 50 yards or fewer

If the Jags proved one thing against the Indianapolis Colts is that they’re darn good at stopping the run. Defensive coordinator Mike Caldwell’s unit limited Indy to 45 rushing yards and a paltry 2.8 yards per carry.

Sure, the Jaguars got torched by Matt Ryan but their run defense bounced back one week after not being able to slow down Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce. There’s a good chance they will get defensive tackle Folorunso Fatukasi for Week 7, and if they do, they’ll have a legitimate shot at containing Saquon Barkley, who’s racked up 119 carries for 616 yards with four rushing touchdowns this season.

Will it be a tough task? Sure, but the Jags are well-equipped to pull it off.
