Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence scores in 1st quarter vs. Colts, other prop bets for Week 6
The Jacksonville Jaguars’ offense is currently in a funk. After scoring nine touchdowns in the first three games of the 2022 season, Press Taylor’s unit has only reached the end zone twice in the past two weeks. On the bright side, they will be playing the Indianapolis Colts in Week 6, a team they already defeated earlier this year.
In that game, the Jags had 24 points and kept Indy from scoring a single one. While the outcome of that matchup won’t matter Sunday, Jacksonville showed in Week 2 that they can put points on the scoreboard against the Colts. With this in mind, here are three player props you might like for the game. All bets on WynnBET.
Jaguars vs. Colts: 3 enticing player props you might like for Week 6
1. Trevor Lawrence, one TD in the first quarter (+250)
Trevor Lawrence is one of the reasons the Jaguars’ offense hasn’t recently been operating at full steam. However, he should eventually get back on track and play the way he did early in the season. Sure, he threw two questionable interceptions against the Houston Texans but a couple of bad plays shouldn’t overlook the strides he’s made since the end of the 2021 season.
Head coach Doug Pederson already said he isn’t worried about Lawrence at all and there’s a reason to believe he will fare well against an Indianapolis defense that will be without linebacker Shaquille Leonard and defensive end Kwity Paye.
Lawrence has thrown a touchdown in the first quarter this season, and that was against Philly last week. While the Jags have often experienced slow starts, the coaching staff might be inclined to test the Colts’ secondary in the game, which could lead to a touchdown pass in the first quarter.
But if you think betting on Lawrence to score in the first quarter is a tad risky, you could pick him to score in the first half at -130. The return is lower but it’s safer. Conversely, you can take the former Clemson Tiger to score twice in the first half at +460. If you think Jacksonville’s offense will be functioning in high gear, you might want to choose this prop.
2. WR Jamal Agnew, first touchdown scorer (+1,400)
The Jags already ruled out wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr., along with defensive tackle Folorunso Fatukasy, for Sunday’s game, so expect Jamal Agnew to once again get a big workload in Week 6.
Subbing for Zay Jones in Week 4, Angew reached the end zone twice. Given his past success, he will most likely get a big workload and with the Colts’ defense zeroing in on Christian Kirk and Zay Jones, Angew should get plenty of favorable matchups, which would then lead to scoring opportunities.
Another option is to take Angew to be the Jaguars’ first touchdown scorer at +800. It’s safer and the return is still pretty good.
3. RB Travis Etienne, one touchdown (+185), one TD in the first half (+410)
Sophomore running back Travis Etienne has progressively gotten a bigger workload this season. And even though the coaching staff will keep relying on James Robinson, Etienne is low-key becoming an important piece of their passing game.
Against Houston, the former Clemson Tiger totaled 114 yards on 13 touches, and the Jags could lean on him once again in Week 6. All things considered, taking Etienne to score against the Colts is a promising bet.
