The Jacksonville Jaguars didn’t do much of note during the first quarter of their Week 3 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers. However, they’ve nailed two field goals not long after the second quarter started. The second was possible thanks to an interception by rookie linebacker Devin Lloyd. And looking back, that might end up being the turning point of the game.

The Jaguars kicked a field goal to start the second quarter. The Chargers then got the ball but it was only for one play, as Lloyd snagged a pass intended for running back Sony Michel.

This is Lloyd’s second interception of the year. He logged his first one against the Indianapolis Colts just last week.

Lloyd didn’t fare well in the season opener but has played much better over the last two games. Not only did he register an interception against Indy but he earned the highest Pro Football Focus grade among rookie defenders in Week 2.

Not long after Lloyd’s interception, defensive end Dawuane Smoot forced a fumble that was scooped by linebacker Foyesade Oluokun. Here’s Lloyd’s interception in case you missed it.

The Jaguars offense must show out vs. the Chargers

A few plays after Oluokun’s fumble recovery, Trevor Lawrence connected with wide receiver Zay Jones for the Jags’ first touchdown of the game. So far Jacksonville’s offense has picked up 10 points off turnovers.

Sure, the Chargers are without wide receiver Keenan Allen but the Jags’ are also missing starting cornerback Shaquill Griffin. Before Lawrence’s touchdown to Jones, the offense had trouble moving the ball through the air.

On the other hand, Jacksonville has had no trouble moving the ball on the ground. James Robinson has broken off a couple of big runs and has averaged 6.5 yards per carry. Similarly, Travis Etienne has two carries for 11 yards.

There’s still plenty of time for the Chargers to come back. In fact, they’ve already scored a touchdown, so the Jaguars can’t afford to take the foot off the gas pedal.
