Running back James Robinson tore his Achilles near the end of the 2021 season but he was back in the fold for the Jacksonville Jaguars’ matchup in Week 2. The former Illinois State Redbird scored two touchdowns in his return from injury and he scored a 37-yard run, his third one of the season, against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2.

Robinson and Travis Etienne had a hard time running the ball early in the game but the coaching staff didn’t panic and kept giving them the ball hoping they would break off a long run, which is precisely what ended up happening.

After two quarters, the Jaguars have had 16 carries for 61 yards (3.5 average). Take Robinson’s 37-yard run and the Jags have 24 yards on 15 rushes, showing how hard it’s been to run against the Colts’ stout defensive front. On the other hand, Robinson deserves plenty of credit for waiting for the right time to make a big play.

Although it was reported before the game that Robinson and Etienne would split carries, Robinson got a bigger workload in the first half.

The Jaguars dominated the Colts in the first half of Week 2

Robinson’s touchdown gave the Jaguars a 14-point lead, which kicker Riley Patterson would later extend to 17 points after nailing a 52-yard attempt. Trevor Lawrence was 14-of-17 for 137 yards with one touchdown ahead of halftime and Christian Kirk was leading the team in receiving yards with 42 on three receptions. Marvin Jones Jr. also has three catches for 33 yards.

On defense, safety Rayshawn Jenkins intercepted a pass while outside linebacker Josh Allen has taken Matt Ryan down twice and defensive end Arden Key also got a sack near the end of the second quarter. Moreover, the Jags’ offense has completely neutralized Jonathan Taylor, limiting him to four yards on five carries.

There’s still plenty of football left today but it looks like the Jaguars will get their first win of the year barring a Colts’ comeback. They just now have to seal the deal.
