When you think of current Jacksonville Jaguars players, Trevor Lawrence most likely comes to mind, maybe outside linebacker Josh Allen or even Travon Walker, the top overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. They all are some of the Jags’ most prominent players and they will play a key role in their success (or lack thereof) this upcoming season.

But there are other lesser-known players on the Jaguars’ roster that will also be important. Here are four of them.

No. 4 Jaguars best-kept secret in 2022: DaVon Hamilton, DT

Nose tackles don’t get as much praise as they deserve but they’re the unsung heroes of a 3-4 defense. Their main role is to take on blocks so others can make plays and close off running lanes and that’s what DaVon Hamilton will be asked to do on the Jags’ defense in 2022.

However, the coaching staff will also have Hamilton get after the quarterback, which is something he says he hasn’t done in a while. A third-round selection in the 2020 draft, the former Ohio State Buckey has only logged two career sacks but there’s a good chance he could top that amount in defensive coordinator Mike Caldwell’s scheme.

Folorunso Fatukasi currently enjoys more name recognition and Adam Gotsis, who was released and brought back before the start of the season, logged more sacks (three) than Hamilton last year. Nevertheless, Hamilton has steadily improved since his rookie campaign and there’s a good chance he could be the most productive of the three by the end of the 2022 season.
