No. 1 team that should call the Jaguars about Jawaan Taylor: Bears

The Jaguars have done a good job of putting sophomore quarterback Trevor Lawrence in a position to succeed, giving him more weapons and better protection up front. The Chicago Bears also have a signal-caller entering his second season in the NFL. But unlike the Jags, the Bears haven’t done enough to help Justin Fields in 2022.

Besides letting Allen Robinson walk away in free agency, they didn’t draft a receiver until the third round, when they chose the 25-year-old Velus Jones Jr. To make matters worse, general manager Ryan Poles neglected the offensive line throughout most of the offseason and he’s just now looking for potential upgrades.

Chicago made a claim on former Raiders offensive lineman Alex Leatherwood and brought in former Raiders and Chiefs offensive guard Kelechi Osmele for a visit t days before the start of the 2022 season.  While they’re at it, they should call the Jaguars and inquire about Jawaan Taylor.

Veteran Riley Reiff, who will tentatively start at right tackle, can line up at both tackle spots but trading for Taylor would allow the Bears to slide him to the left side. Of course, they could also go with rookie Braxton Jones, who has impressed Poles. In fact, it seems like he’s slated to start. Then again, if Chicago felt good about their offensive line, they wouldn’t be making so many days before Week 1 of the season, and having Tayor and Reiff at tackle would ensure Fields has adequate protection up front.
