5 players the Jaguars could trade for a decent return this summmer
No. 2 player the Jaguars could trade this summer: Jawaan Taylor, RT
The Jaguars made a few important changes to their offensive line this offseason to ensure that Trevor Lawrence’s jersey remains clean as much as possible. They gave left tackle Cam Robinson a multi-year extension and signed Pro Bowl guard Brandon Scherff in free agency. They also brought back Tyler Shatley, who will tentatively start at center in Week 1.
While there doesn’t seem to be anything set in stone, it looks like Ben Bartch will start at left guard, potentially leaving right tackle as the only position across the offensive line open for competition in training camp. Incumbent Jawaan Taylor will try to fend off sophomore Walker Little, who showed flashes when he got a shot towards the end of the 2021 season.
Taylor will get a legitimate shot to keep his job but there’s a good chance Little end up getting the nod. If that’s the outcome, clubs might want to work the phone and ask about Taylor, who would be an enticing trade target if he were available.
A second-round pick in the 2019 draft, the former Florida Gator has never missed a game in his three-year career and has made 49 straight starts. Clubs value that kind of availability and there’s no doubt Taylor could start for a few teams, so why would the Jaguars consider parting ways with the right tackle?
Taylor has struggled with penalties throughout his career, some of them at critical times. Moreover, he’s regressed over the last two seasons after showing potential in his rookie campaign. But despite being a mixed bag, the Jags could get a fourth-round pick if another team is desperate for offensive line help.
