When you think of the best players on the Jacksonville Jaguars’ roster, Trevor Lawrence, wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. and outside linebacker Josh Allen probably come to mind. Maybe right guard Brandon Scherff made the cut, and so did Christian Kirk if you don’t mind the contract he got in free agency.

On the other hand, there are other Jaguars players that get mixed reactions when you bring their name up in a conversation. With that in mind, here are their four most controversial players ahead of the 2022 season.

No. 4 Jaguars most controversial player in 2022: Jawaan Taylor, RT

When the Jacksonville Jaguars selected Jawaan Taylor in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, they thought they were getting a long-term answer at right tackle but they’ve gotten mixed results instead.

On one hand, Taylor has started at right tackle since Day 1 and hasn’t missed a single game. That kind of availability is rare in a collision sport such as football. However, the former Florida Gator hasn’t been particularly great, having struggled with penalties over the last two years. For that reason, he could lose his job this offseason.

The Jags drafted Walker Little in the second round last year, and with Cam Robinson firmly entrenched at left tackle, the former Stanford Cardinal will compete with Taylor for the right tackle job in training camp.

Little showed promise as a rookie, especially towards the end of the 2021 season. If Taylor loses to him, he might not see the field again for the Jaguars again, as he’s scheduled to become a free agent in 2023.
