No. 3 Jaguars player who could become a star in 2022 – Travis Etienne, RB

Running back Travis Etienne is one of several Jaguars that has gotten the spotlight ahead of the 2022 season and one big reason is that everyone wants to see him make his NFL debut. After going 25th overall in last year’s draft, the former Clemson Tiger was expected to become a key cog on Jacksonville’s offense. However, the team’s brass had to scrap that plan when he suffered a Lisfranc injury in the preseason.

Etienne went on to miss his entire rookie campaign but he’s fully healthy now and had no limitations during minicamp. With fellow running back James Robinson also rehabbing an injury, Etienne is poised to have a big role in the offense, and he’s in a position to thrive.

First, Trevor Lawrence should make strides as a passer, which should keep opposing defenses honest and prevent them from loading up the box. Also, the Jags kept left tackle Cam Robinson from leaving in free agency and signed right guard Brandon Scherff. Their offensive line is far from a top 5 unit but it should have no trouble opening running lanes.

Of course, Etienne is no slouch and if he can play the way he did in college, he will indeed give the Jaguars’ rushing attack a meaningful boost. Back at Clemson, he tallied that produced 20 yards or more. Even if he shares the workload with Robinson, the second-year running back should have no trouble showing why the Jags invested a first-round on him last year.
