Jaguars training camp 2022: 5 storylines to keep an eye on
The date and time for this year’s Jacksonville Jaguars training camp have been set. Players must report to Episcopal School of Jacksonville on July 24th. Last year, the biggest stories surrounding Jags’ training camp were Tim Tebow’s transition to tight end and whether Urban Meyer was going to be able to cut it in the pros. Spoiler alert: He failed.
Although there’s a sense of normalcy in Jacksonville now that Doug Pederson is at the helm, there will be many storylines Jaguars fans should keep an eye on, including the next five.
No. 5 Jaguars training camp storyline to watch – QB CJ Beathard’s health
Quarterbacks have the biggest impact of any position on the football field. That’s why teams must have a competent backup in case the starter goes down. The Jaguars certainly have a solid second-stringer in C.J. Beathard. However, he’s currently nursing an injury.
Beathard went down with a hamstring injury during Jacksonville’s Organized Team Activities. Not long after, Doug Pederson announced that it wasn’t as serious as expected and that he would be back for training camp. The team is off right now, so there’s no need to rush his return.
Having said that, it’s uncertain if Beathard will indeed be back for camp. There are no reports of him having experienced a setback but if he does, the team’s brass will need to sort out their options at the position.
Currently, Jake Luton and E.J. Perry are the other quarterbacks on the roster. Luton would probably become the primary if Beathard is unavailable but the Jaguars could also sign someone off the street.
