2. player who could be entering last year with the Jaguars – Marvin Jones.

The Jaguars moved on from Chris Conley and Keelan Cole last offseason and brought in Marvin Jones Jr. to bolster their wide receiver corps. This was a solid signing, as the team’s brass didn’t have to overpay for a reliable player that caught 32 receiving touchdowns from 2017 to 2020.

All things considered, Jones was pretty solid in his first season in Jacksonville, hauling a team-high 73 receptions for 832 yards and four touchdowns. These numbers are remarkable when you take into account that the Jags ranked last in points scored last year. Had the former Golden Bear been in a more competent offense, his totals would have probably been better. To make matters worse, he got the spotlight not because of his production on the field but for an altercation with then-head coach Urban Meyer.

Like most players on this list, Jones is entering the last year of the contract he signed last offseason. The fact that the Jaguars brought in Zay Jones and Christian Kirk in free agency might make him an unnecessary luxury in 2023. Sure, Jacksonville could benefit from his veteran leadership but they might want to get younger at wide receiver. Also, he could be interested in joining a contender after spending his career with the Detroit Lions and the Jaguars, two teams that haven’t enjoyed much postseason success in recent years.

Maybe the Jaguars and Jones can work out an extension but it wouldn’t be shocking to see him change uniforms next offseason.
