4 potential Jaguars trade partners for the No. 1 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft
No. 3 team that can call the Jaguars about the No. 1 pick – The Giants.
Former Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll was one a highly sought-after head coaching candidate in this past hiring cycle. Ultimately, he landed with the New York Giants, where he will be expected to do for Daniel Jones what he did for Josh Allen.
A first-round selection in the 2019, Jones showed flashes in his rookie campaign but has regressed since then. While Daboll is seeking his quarterback’s input to craft his playbook, the truth is that he may eventually want to bring his ” own guy”. After all, he inherited Jones, and if he isn’t convinced he isn’t the long-term answer at the position, he could ask general manager Joe Schoen to target someone else in the draft.
The G-Men currently hold two top 10 picks in 2022, numbers four and seven (via the Chicago Bears). While they could use one on a signal-caller, they could always trade up if they think either the Lions, the Texans or the Panthers want to jump in front of them. They could take a quarterback like Malik Willis or Spencer Rattle and groom him behind Daniel Jones. Trading for the No. 1 pick would ensure they got the get their preferred choice.
