Jaguars post-FA mock draft – 3rd round, 70th pick – Zamir White, RB.

The running back market lacked star power but there are several options still available nearly one week after free agency officially started. So far, James Conner and Cordarrelle Patterson returned to their respective teams but Sony Michel, Marlon Mack, and Melvin Ingram are still looking for a club. The Jaguars could and should add one of them but if they don’t, they could then take Georgia’s Zamir White with their second third-round pick, the one they got when they traded cornerback C.J. Henderson to the Carolina Panthers last year.

White doesn’t offer much as a pass-catcher but he’s a decent receiver out of the backfield. On the other hand, he’s a bruiser that is hard to bring down. Back with the Bulldogs, he racked up 382 carries for 2,043 yards with 25 touchdowns over the last three years. The fact that he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.40 seconds at the scouting combine should give his draft stock a boost.

Although White tore his ACL in 2018, he’s been healthy and hasn’t had any other major injuries. The Jaguars need to add depth to their running back room with both Travis Etienne and James Robinson coming off season-ending injuries. While E-T-N should be back soon, Robinson may not be available until the start of the season, if not later, so the team’s brass must err on the side of caution and fortify their backfield. White offers good value in the third round.
