The Jacksonville Jaguars knew that the addition the head coach Doug Pederson alone wasn’t going to propel them to the playoffs. They were also fully aware that Trevor Lawrence was in need of a better supporting cast. That’s why they’ve spent the last few days acquiring a handful of difference-makers in free agency.

Right off the bat, the Jaguars were one of the most aggressive teams on the first day of the NFL’s legal tampering period, making good use of the surplus of cap space they had. You could make the case that they overspent to lure a few players to Jacksonville but if they end up making a positive impact, will it matter?

The Jags needed an infusion of talent this offseason and that’s precisely what they got. General manager Trent Baalke’s decision-making has been questioned in the past and rightfully so. But he deserves praise for trying to address as many needs as possible in free agency. It’s possible he realize he needed to change his approach or maybe he’s on the hot seat but regardless of the reason, he didn’t shy away from trying to land whatever players he and the team’s brass set their eyes on.

Even though it will take a while to currently assess all the signings the Jaguars have made, there’s no doubt they look better than they did at this point last year. And in the best-case scenario, they might have found six starters. Fort the time being, here are all the Jaguars’ signings and departures so far.
