After winning a grand total of 15 games over the last four seasons, the Jacksonville Jaguars will have a steep hill to climb if they want to turn things around. Hiring Doug Pederson as the head coach was a good first step but there’s plenty of work left. Free agency is just a few days away and the Jags will need to make a few splash signings if they want to upgrade their roster. Fortunately, they have plenty of cap space to sign a couple of impact players even after applying the franchise tag on left tackle Cam Robinson$40 million, per Spotrac.

On the other hand, the Jaguars aren’t the only team in the AFC South with ample cap room. In fact, both the Tennesee Titans and the Indianapolis Colts have more than them and rank first and second in cap space in the league. The Houston Texans have significantly less, $21.27  million as of this writing but they should be able to make a couple of additions in free agency with some creative accounting.

The one thing the Jags can’t afford to do this offseason is to sit on their cap room and settle on second-wave signings. They must be aggressive, and even though free agency won’t buy them a championship, it can help them address positional needs with players who have a proven track record in the NFL. While Jacksonville might not compete for the division crown this year, they need to start acquiring pieces for the future. If they don’t, their AFC South archrivals will. With that in mind, here are the worst-case signings for each of the Jaguars’ division foes.
