No. 4 player the Jaguars could re-sign on the cheap – Laquon Treadwell.

Re-signing DJ Chark Jr. will be one of the toughest decisions the Jaguars will have to make this offseason. While it doesn’t make sense to use the franchise tag on him, the front office needs to make an effort to keep him. On the other hand, he shouldn’t be the only wide receiver the Jags should bring back this offseason.

Laquon Treadwell joined the Jaguars after the 2021 draft and looked like a long shot to make the team. However, he impressed the coaching staff throughout training camp and seemed poised to earn a spot in the final 53-man roster. Ultimately, he didn’t make the cut but Jacksonville signed him to the practice squad.

Once injuries hit the Jaguars’ wide receiver corps, Treadwell made the most of his opportunity and hauled in 33 catches for a career-best 434 yards and one touchdown. While the former first-round pick had a few head-scratching drops, he also moved the chains several times and showed he could be a solid weapon in the Jags’ passing game.

Treadwell isn’t a number one receiver but he could be a productive No. 3. The fact that he was one of Trevor Lawrence’s targets last season should strengthen his case to return to Jacksonville in 2022. Last year, he signed a one-year deal worth $990,000, and will he won’t break the bank this offseason, he deserves a raise, and the Jags should give it to him. Something along the lines of $1.7 million, maybe even $2 million seems fair.
