Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson has wasted no time and is done assembling his staff. The team’s brass will now focus all their attention on evaluating the roster and discussing any potential improvements they can make this offseason.

The Jags will have around $56 million in cap space and could add as much as an additional $24 million if they make a few cuts. That’s more than enough money to make a few splash additions to their roster but they can’t just spend for the sake of it. They need to make sure they will get the best bang for their buck and they may be better off avoiding these five players.

No. 1 free agent the Jaguars should avoid in 2022 – Trai Turner.

Trai Turner was one of the best offensive guards in the NFL early in his career. The former LSU Tiger made five straight Pro Bowls as a member of the Carolina Panthers but injuries have taken a toll on him over the last two seasons. He did start all 17 games in 2021 but he wasn’t as dominant as he was in his prime, committing seven penalties and allowing six sacks.

The Jaguars could lose right guard A.J. Cann, left guard Andrew Norwell, and backup Tyler Shatley in free agency, so they will probably need to make changes to their interior offensive line this offseason. If they choose to sign a guard in the open market, there may be better options than Turner available. They’re better off targeting Austin Corbett of the Los Angeles Rams or Brandon Scherff if giving him a big contract isn’t an issue.
