The Jacksonville Jaguars will have their work cut out this offseason if they want to rack up more than three wins in 2022, which is the amount they had last year. Not only do the Jags need to upgrade must positional groups and make sure Trevor Lawrence has enough weapons around him. They also need to get the most out of every player that is currently on the roster.

Head coach Doug Pederson and his staff must push a few players that were expected to contribute last season but ended up underperforming, including these five of them that need to have a monster offseason in 2022.

No. 1 Jaguars player who needs monster offseason – Jordan Smith, OLB.

It’s unrealistic to use a late-round pick on a player and expect him to start right out of the gate and become a Pro Bowl as a rookie. If you do, your draft process is flawed. On the other hand, you do want to see him suit up on game day and have a role, whether on special teams or a package on defense. That’s what the Jaguars surely wanted from edge rusher Jordan Smith but the UAB product was inactive for most of his rookie campaign and didn’t record a single stat.

Again, Smith was a fourth-round pick and is barely entering his second year in the NFL. Moreover, the Jaguars had plenty of depth across the front seven. However, he needs to show progress this offseason and make a good impression on the new coaching staff. Otherwise, he runs the risk of not making the 53-man roster in 2022.
