No. 2 Jaguars D-Line target in 2022 – Zachary Carter, Florida.

Carter was a force playing for the Florida Gators in the heralded SEC, especially in the last three years. In that stretch, Carter accumulated a whopping 17 sacks along with 25 tackles for a loss. Last year, Carter was ninth in his conference with seven and a half sacks. In 2020, he was eighth in tackles for a loss with eight in the SEC.

Carter’s 80.2 pass-rush grade by Pro Football Focus certainly is noteworthy. Much like Booker, Carter’s versatility is one of his biggest strengths. Carter possesses solid length and even more impressive hands. Both of those traits served him well in Florida. In terms of his NFL prospects, Carter will be most effective in the B-gap, where he can use his above-average first step to penetrate into the backfield. He doesn’t have the lateral speed to hunt down running backs, but he can certainly stuff the interior and still get to the quarterback.

The Jaguars will be picking up a quality, versatile defensive lineman that will fit nicely into any rotation the new coaching staff puts in place. Of course, he would have to be available when the Jaguars are on the clock, but there’s no doubt Carter would bolster their front seven.
