There’s a chance you would’ve liked to see Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich become the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars but there’s no doubt they got a good one in Doug Pederson, who ultimately got the job.

After all, Pederson has shown he can get it done in the NFL after helping the Philadelphia Eagles win their first Super Bowl in franchise history and playing a big role in the early development of quarterback Carson Wentz. While Pederson has acknowledged there is no overnight fix, he should be able to get the Jaguars on the right path and help Trevor Lawrence get better in Year 2.

Moreover, Pederson has made these three games in the Jaguars’ 2022 schedule more relevant due to the fact that he’s now the head coach in Jacksonville. Keep in mind that even though the opponents are set, the full 17-game schedule will be released later this year.

No. 1 Jaguars relevant game in 2022 – @ Kansas City Chiefs.

Doug Pederson will face off against his former mentor, Andy Reid, for the second time in his head-coaching career. They first met back in Week 2 of the 2017 season and Reid got the best of Pederson, winning 27-20. Then again, that was the year Pederson led the Philadelphia Eagles to their first championship since the AFL-NFL merger, so the sting of the loss might have not been that bad.

The student will have another chance to coach against the teacher. This may be more meaningful for Pederson than the Jags but his players would sure want to help him exact his revenge on Reid.
