No. 1 Cardinals free agent Jaguars can sign – Zach Ertz, TE.

Zach Ertz became one of the best tight ends in the NFL playing with the Philadelphia Eagles, that’s why it was odd to see him wear a red and white jersey after he was traded to the Arizona Cardinals.

At the time of the trade, it made sense for Philly to pull the trigger, since Ertz was coming arguably his worst season as a pro and Dallas Goedert had basically become the team’s number one tight end. It may sound silly now but it was fair to wonder if Ertz still had gas in the tank or the 2020 campaign was just an anomaly. As soon as the 2013 second-round pick joined the Cards, he prove it was the latter, hauling in 56 receptions for 573 yards with three touchdowns in 11 games.

Not long ago, Jacksonville was mentioned as a potential landing spot for Cardinals tight end Maxx Williams but there’s no doubt Ertz is the more talented of the two and would be the better signing.

After all, Ertz is 31 but should still have a few solid seasons under his belt. The Jaguars are in need of a number one tight end and he could fit that role along with Dan Arnold. Spotract projects he will sign a three-year deal worth $21 million ($7 million average per year). That’s a reasonable amount the Jags can pay to give quarterback Trevor Lawrence another target on offense.
