No. 4 Jaguars player that must be re-signed in 2022 – DJ Chark, WR.

If there’s a pending free agent the Jaguars can’t afford to lose this offseason, it’s wide receiver DJ Chark Jr. After having a relatively down season in 2020, he was supposed to bounce back and return to his Pro Bowl form in 2021. However, he suffered a fractured ankle in Week 4 that cut his campaign short.

While Chark only caught seven passes in 2021, two of those were touchdowns. Moreover, he averaged 22 yards per reception. He’s the kind of deep threat that draws coverage away from his teammates and opens things up on offense. Once he went down, the Jaguars’ lacked someone who could get deep and their offense suffered a dip in production because of it.

Chark is still recovering from the ankle fracture but he recently uploaded a video on social media where you can see he’s already started running again. While he’s not fully healthy yet, it’s encouraging to see his progress.

The Jaguars can give Chark a team-friendly deal or offer him a one-year contract with the opportunity to rehabilitate his stock and hit the open market once again in 2023. Regardless of the route the team takes, they can’t afford to let him walk away.
