No. 3 Buccaneer who could follow Leftwich to the Jaguars – Chris Godwin.

Had Chris Godwin not tore his ACL, he would have easily commanded $20 million per year as a free agent. However, his availability for the start of the 2022 season is now in question. Having said that, there should definitely be interest for him if he hits the open market after playing on the franchise tag in 2021.

Even though Godwin will spend the offseason rehabbing, he should have a few teams lined up for his services. His best bet may be to return to the Buccaneers but if he becomes a free agent, he could follow Leftwich wherever he lands. The Jaguars could sign him to a one-year deal and expect him to return at some point of the regular season. Another alternative is to give the wide receiver a multi-year deal and see him as a long-term investment, one that won’t be able to fully contribute until the 2023 season.

Keep in mind that Godwin has been one of the most productive wide receivers in the league over the last four years, hauling in 308 catches for 4,118 yards with 28 touchdowns. The Jaguars need help at wide receiver and signing Godwin makes sense if they are willing to wait for him to be fully healthy. The wide receiver market in 2022 will be somewhat narrow and even though he won’t be able to contribute right out of the gate, he should still garner plenty of attention.
