Jaguars’ dream coaching hire No. 5 – Former Eagles HC Doug Pederson.

For those who think the Jaguars shouldn’t hire a head coach without prior experience at the position, Doug Pederson should be your pick. He took the Philadelphia Eagles to their first Super Bowl in just his second season at the helm and he did it with backup quarterback Nick Folk (does that name sound familiar?).

Pederson also helped Carson Wentz play at an MVP-like level during his sophomore campaign. Back in 2019, the Eagles find a way to remain competitive even though Zach Ertz was their only consistent weapon on offense. Every now and then, you will hear reports about dysfunction in Philly but those are mainly about general manager Howie Roseman’s decision-making and Wentz’s behavior. You won’t often hear bad things about Pederson. Quite the contrary.

Another thing to take into account is Pederson’s experience as a player. He was part of several teams, including the Green Bay that won a Super Bowl and played in another during the 1990s. He knows how a successful team looks and knows that building a great quarterback room plays a big role in the team’s future success or lack thereof.

That’s what Trevor Lawrence needs, a head coach that will help him succeed and not one that is more interested in getting frisky with a woman who isn’t his wife. All the candidates on this list would surely do a great job in Jacksonville but Tomlin (a long shot) notwithstanding, Pederson is the one with the most experience and may be the best of the bunch.
