Jaguars’ dream head coaching hire No. 2 – Buccaneers OC Byron Leftwich.

The Jaguars requested to interview Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich only to be turned down. Leftwich said it was disrespectful for the Bucs’ Week 16 opponent, the New York Jets, to talk about a potential head coach opening when his focus should be on the game. If anything, he deserves credit for keeping his focus on the bird in hand and not the one in the bush.

Now, this doesn’t mean Leftwich isn’t interested in the Jaguars’ vacancy. Maybe he is, maybe he’s not but if the Jags are sincerely interested in him, they can file another request once he’s available, which would be whenever the Buccaneers’ season is over. So why should the Jaguars wait for him?

Leftwich has been endorsed by Jaguars legend Jimmy Smith, who saw him work hard every single day during their time together in Jacksonville. Also, head coach Bruce Arians says Leftwich is the one who runs the offensive meetings in Tampa Bay. Similarly, Tom Brady also said it’s been amazing to work with him and knows he’ll have a lot of opportunities.

Just like Moore, Leftwich has had plenty of talent at his disposal but you can’t hold that against him, as it’s something he doesn’t have control over. Also, he will be a first-time head coach but he has to start somewhere and Jacksonville, the place where he once played, would be the ideal place.
