The Jacksonville Jaguars acquired some important pieces in the 2021 NFL Draft, such as quarterback Trevor Lawrence and cornerback Tyson Campbell. However, one draft class wasn’t enough to replenish their roster and they will need to keep adding pieces in 2022.

No. 1 Alabama will face off against No. 4 Cincinnati in the Cotton Bowl. The Bearcats are a 13.5 underdog heading into the game but regardless of who wins, the Jags should tune in and keep an eye on these five draft prospects.

No. 1 Draft prospect Jaguars must watch – Alec Pierce, WR, Cincinnati.

The Jaguars’ passing game hasn’t been very productive in 2021 and Trevor Lawrence has thrown just a touchdown in the last eight weeks. While the rookie passer is experiencing a learning curve his lack of production can also be blamed on the lack of weapons he’s got at his disposal.

The Jaguars can bolster their wide receiver corps in free agency but the 2022 NFL Draft will offer several options, including Alec Pierce of Cincinnati. Joe Marino of The Draft Network believes the Bearcats wideout compares favorably to Michale Pittman Jr. coming out of USC. He goes on to say that he likes his “competitive toughness and his physicality as a route-runner”.

Pierce hauled in 50 receptions for 867 yards with eight touchdowns as a senior. And in 25 collegiate games, he caught 104 passes for 1,834 yards with 13 touchdowns. As you can see, most of his production came in 2021.

There are many positions the Jaguars can target in the first round but if they chose to wait until the second round, Pierce would be a nice pickup.
