Jaguars fortify their offense in this 3-round Christmas mock draft

The Jacksonville Jaguars are poised to have the dubious honor of having the first overall pick in back-to-back drafts. This year, the Jags selected a potential franchise quarterback in Trevor Lawrence and they need to build around him next offseason.

The advantage of having to fill many roster needs is that there are different directions the Jaguars can take in the draft and depending on how it unfolds, they could come out of the three-day event with several difference-makers.

While the Jaguars’ defense could use some upgrades, their biggest needs are on offense and if they want to start competing on a weekly basis they need to address them. They do precisely that in this mock draft.

Jaguars mock draft, first round, first overall pick – Evan Neal, OL.

The Jaguars could turn the top pick into a cartload of additional ones. However, they would need to find a trade partner and that may prove to be a tough task, as there aren’t many prospects you would label as a generational talent. Let’s say the Jags stay put and draft Evan Neal of Alabama. They need to protect Trevor Lawrence and the Florida native would ensure that happens.

By drafting Neal, the Jaguars wouldn’t have to worry about signing Cam Robinson to a long-term deal and could let him walk away in free agency. Also, they could kick offensive tackle Walker Little to the right side and have him compete with incumbent Jawaan Taylor, who has struggled this season.
