Jaguars vs. Texans: Top prop bets to make in Week 15 game
With conversations mainly centering on the firing of Urban Meyer over the last few days, it’s easy to forget the Jacksonville Jaguars still have four games remaining in their schedule. In Week 15, they will welcome the Houston Texans at TIAA Bank Field.
The Jags lost to the Texans in the season opener but the team they will face off against Sunday will look very different. Tyrod Taylor no longer is their starting quarterback, and Houston has either traded or released linebacker Zach Cunningham, running back Phillip Lindsey, linebacker Whitney Mercilus, cornerback Vernon Hargreaves, and running back Mark Ingram. Also, Davis Mills will be making his eighth career start.
It will be interesting to see how the Jaguars fare now that Meyer is not with the team and here are three prop bets, via WynnBET, you may be interested in to kickstart the Darrell Bevell era.
3 prop bets for the Jaguars’ Week 15 game against the Texans.
1. Trevor Lawrence, two passing touchdowns or more (+160).
Bet $100 on Trevor Lawrence throwing two touchdown passes against the Texans and if he does, you will win $160 for a total payout of $260. This was a good bet to make early in the season, as the former Clemson Tiger threw three touchdown passes in his NFL debut. However, as the season went on, it became risky because he’s had just six since Week 2.
Lawrence could see a surge in production now that Bevell is in charge. It also helps that the Jaguars will take on a Texans’ defense that isn’t good at stopping the pass, ranking 28th in touchdown passes allowed. If the rookie passer is going to have another multi-touchdown game in 2021 this is most likely it.
2. James Robinson, more than 81 rushing yards (-115).
This one seems to be safe. Place a wager of $115 on James Robinson tallying more than 81 yards in Week 15 to win $100 for a total payout of $215. One of Urban Meyer’s mistakes during his tenure in Jacksonville was his refusal to give the second-year running back a bigger workload. In fact, benching Robinson in back-to-back weeks might have played a role in his demise.
With Meyer out of the picture, Robinson will most likely get the ball early and often. It wouldn’t be shocking to see him surpass his season-high of 18 carries and rack up more than 100 rushing yards Sunday.
3. James O’Shaughnessy, first touchdown scorer (+1400).
The Jaguars’ passing game should see an uptick in production in Week 15 and one of the beneficiaries should be James O’Shaughnessy. With Dan Arnold tentatively out for the year, O’Shaughnessy is the team’s starting tight end.
In the first two games of the season, the veteran was favored by Trevor Lawrence and has averaged six targets per game in the past two weeks. Expect the rookie passer to target O’Shaughnessy against the Texans. He’s a good bet to catch the first touchdown of the game. If he does, you will win $1,400 for every $100 you bet on him.
